  1. Cut brinjal into small cubes and add them to a bowl filled with water.
  2. After all brinjals are cut, strain the water. Add turmeric powder and salt. Mix well and leave it aside for 10 minutes..
  3. In a pan, heat a drop of oil. Add bengal gram dal, coriander seeds, peppercorns and red chillies. Fry till dal turns light brown. Let it cool.

  7. Add urad dal and curry leaves. Fry till urad dal turns light brown.
  8. Add chopped brinjal pieces, sprinkle little water and mix well.
  9. Close the lid and let the brinjals cook in low flame for 5-7 minutes.
  10. Check if brinjals are cooked..
  11. Add the freshly ground masala powder and mix well.
  12. Check for salt and add more if needed.
  13. Fry for a minute and turn off the flame.
  14. Serve it as a dry side-dish with rice..
